Pottery Classes
We offer a variety of classes at both of our location for potters at every level, from those just getting started to people looking to dive deeper into the craft in a fun, supportive community!
One Time Classes
Dive into a new creative experience with our fun, upbeat one-time classes! Whether you're looking to learn something new, mix up date night, or make a fun piece, these classes are the perfect way to spend a weekend!
All classes are beginner-friendly and designed to give you a taste of the pottery experience whether you're just getting started or jumping back in. In each class, participants will make 1-2 pieces, which will be glazed in the color of their choice and ready for pick up in ~4 weeks!

Pottery Sampler
Sunday 12:30-3 & 3:30-6
Try your hand at two fun pottery techniques in this class where everyone will make one piece on the wheel and one by hand using slabs of clay. Students will make 2 pieces and often make planters or mugs and small bowls...but bring your hands and imagination and see where the clay takes you!
$90/person
Weekly Pottery Classes
Our weekly classes offer opportunities to dive deeper into the pottery process for students at all levels from those just getting to started to those who have been doing pottery for years.
Openings in these classes are filled from our waitlist. Sign up for the waitlist below – we recommend joining a one-time class while waiting for openings in weekly classes.

8-Week Wheel Series
Our 8-week intro series is great for beginners and intermediate students to gain a strong foundation of techniques for creating and finishing wheel-thrown pieces.
These classes are scheduled on a rolling, 2-month basis with set series dates.
Classes are 2 hours long with an additional 30 minutes for clean up.
$420 for the series includes all materials, tools and firing.

8-Week Hand Building Series
Our 8-week hand building series offers students the opportunity to dive into different hand building techniques while also learning about glazing and finishing pieces.
These classes are scheduled on a rolling, 2-month basis with set series dates.
Classes are 2 hours long with an additional 30 minutes for clean up.
$420 for the series includes all materials, tools and firing.

Weekly Mixed-Level Classes
Our weekly mixed-level classes bring together students at all levels from absolute beginner to advanced for fun, community-based classes filled with exciting demos and great inspiration.
These classes are scheduled on a semester basis, three times per year.
Classes are 2 hours long with an additional 30 minutes for clean up.
$210/4 classes includes all materials, tools, and firing. Classes start with a minimum of 8 weeks.

Private Classes
Whether it’s a family reunion, birthday party, bachelorette weekend, or just a casual get-together, private classes at Clay Lounge are a great opportunity to try something new and spend time with friends, family and coworkers.
Private classes can accommodate 6-36 people for a fun pottery experience. Classes will be tailored to the occasion and can include wheel throwing and/or hand-building projects. Participants will create up to 2 pieces in the colors of their choosing.
Events typically book 3-6 weeks out.

Specialty Workshops & Intensives
Dive deeper into the pottery process with our specialty workshops and intensives, offering opportunities to learn from incredible artists who are experts in their niche, and to delve into specific aspects of the process.

Level Up Your Wheel Throwing Intensive
July 13-16 | Somerville
Level up your throwing in this 4-day intensive where participants will have the chance to dive deeper into the practice of throwing on the wheel. Learn new approaches to forming work on the wheel and practice skills you'll bring back into your regular pottery classes or practice.

Ceramic Desserts with Corran Shrimpton
May 17 | Somerville
Donuts and cupcakes and cookies, oh my! Join artist Corran Shrimpton for a class combining all of our favorite things – pottery and sweet treats. Participants will transform clay into desserts and learn surface design techniques to make your pieces look sweet enough to eat.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
One Time Workshop:

Cancellations made more than 48hrs prior to class are eligible for a refund.

Cancellations made 48-24hrs before class may receive studio credit to reschedule your class.

Any cancellations made within 24 hours will not be eligible for a refund, however you may transfer your seat to someone else. No-shows will be charged the full class fee.

If cancelling/rescheduling for multiple people you will need to go into each person's profile to make a change.

For parties of 3 or more, we must have at least 72hrs notice.

Recurring Classes (4 Pack Classes):

Students are allowed to cancel/reschedule at least 24hrs prior to class time, with a limit of one cancellation every four weeks.

Keep in mind, it is not ideal for too many weeks between classes as pieces dry out and studio space is limited.

8 Week Workshops:

Students are offered one make-up class per series. Do not reschedule online. You'll receive an email halfway through the course with details for scheduling a make up class.

As this is a curriculum based course, payment is nonrefundable.
